Young Professional Mentoring
Grow Build Nurture
Leading in the workplace can feel challenging and even isolating for entrepreneurs, execs and marketplace professionals, especially when trying to navigate career and other workplace challenges. For Christian leaders, it’s even tougher to bring their faith into business decisions.
Most mainstream mentors don’t fully understand these challenges or provide guidance that aligns with Christian values. That’s where the GBN’s Marketplace Mentoring Program comes in — a space for business executives and marketplace professionals to get wise, faith-centered advice from experienced mentors who get it, or simply living out a faith-based community that cares.

What is the purpose of the GBN Mentoring Program?
The GBN Young Adult Mentoring Program (GYAMP) aims to inspire Christian young adults to apply their faith and values in personal and professional growth. It provides Godly counsel, prayer, and guidance to encourage spiritual development and ethical practices in schools, workplaces, and communities. Focused on leadership and career advancement, the program equips mentees with skills, confidence, and self-esteem to navigate challenges and fulfill their potential. Rooted in Christian principles of love, empathy, and respect, it fosters open communication and supports mentees in making Christ-centered decisions, creating lasting impact in their careers, communities, and personal life.
Why should I join the GBN Mentoring Program?
Joining the GBN Young Adult Mentoring Program (GYAMP) provides an opportunity for personal, professional, and spiritual growth under the guidance of experienced Christian mentors. The program helps you apply faith-based principles in your life, equipping you with the confidence, skills, and mindset needed to face challenges and achieve your goals. You’ll receive tailored support in areas like leadership, career planning, and decision-making, while building self-esteem and clarity about your purpose. GYAMP fosters a positive, Christ-centered environment where you can grow spiritually, develop meaningful relationships, and make a lasting impact in your career, community, and personal life.
How is the mentoring conducted?
The program is conducted through structured, session-based mentoring relationships tailored to the mentee’s needs. Sessions may occur at an agreed physical location, such as a café or office, ensuring privacy, or via video conferencing upon the mentee’s request. Each session begins and ends with prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide discussions. Mentors lead by fostering open communication, asking thoughtful questions, and gently challenging perspectives to encourage independent problem-solving and personal growth. The sessions focus on spiritual, personal, and professional development while adhering to principles of respect, confidentiality, and mutual trust.
How are mentors assigned to mentees?
Mentors are assigned to mentees based on their experience, expertise, and competencies to ensure the most appropriate match for the mentee’s needs. If a mentor feels unable to effectively fulfill the role due to reasons such as a conflict of interest, prior acquaintance with the mentee, or a lack of relevant experience, they are encouraged to notify the program overseer for reassignment. This matching process ensures that mentees receive guidance from mentors best equipped to support their personal, spiritual, and professional development effectively.
What values guide the mentoring relationships?
They are guided by core values that ensure meaningful and impactful mentoring relationships. These values include Christian love and empathy, mutual honor, respect, and trust, as well as commitment and confidence. Open communication and sharing are prioritized, alongside discretion and confidentiality. Mentors provide candid and honest feedback while fostering a sense of friendship and support. The program emphasizes creating a positive, Christ-centered environment where mentees feel encouraged to grow spiritually, personally, and professionally, with all interactions conducted in a manner that is constructive, respectful, and edifying.
What is the minimum commitment for sessions?
The mentoring process is conducted on a session-by-session basis, with the mentee deciding at the end of each session whether to continue. The continuation is subject to the agreement of both the mentee and the mentor(s). If mentors feel that continuing is not in the best interest of the mentee, they are required to explain their reasoning. This flexible approach ensures that the mentoring relationship remains meaningful and beneficial for all parties involved.
How does GBN ensure confidentiality?
GBN ensures confidentiality in its mentoring relationships by emphasizing discretion and privacy in all interactions. Sessions are conducted in private settings, such as cafés or offices, or via video conferencing with measures to prevent unauthorized access. Mentors are instructed not to share session details with others unless explicitly required for program purposes, such as providing summary feedback to the program overseer. If sessions are recorded at the mentee’s request, the recordings must remain private and shared only with the mentors. This commitment to confidentiality fosters trust and openness in the mentoring process.
What if I need support outside of the sessions?
If you need support outside of the sessions, the GBN Young Adult Mentoring Program encourages you to reach out to your assigned mentors for guidance. Mentors are there to journey with you and provide assistance as needed. Additionally, if any challenges arise that require further input or resolution, the program overseer can be contacted for additional support. This ensures that you receive consistent and reliable help throughout your mentoring journey, even outside scheduled sessions, while maintaining the program’s focus on open communication and mutual respect.
